Launchpad to Learning - The Nursery at St Teresa’s
Girls and Boys - 2 to 4 years.
St Teresa’s Nursery has, again in 2009, received an outstanding Ofsted inspection.
We closely follow the Department for Children, Schools and Families’
(DCSF) Early Learning Goals …………but, most of all, it is fun!
From the age of two we welcome little girls and boys to join our Nursery.
This is where the love of learning begins and where our very youngest
pupils are encouraged to make friends, grow in confidence and begin to
develop the healthy curiosity and learning skills which will serve them
for the rest of their lives.

Flexibility is the key to a happy and positive beginning to your
little one’s school days and so St Teresa’s Nursery hours and sessions
are completely negotiable and may be adapted to suit her/his – and your –
needs. Core morning sessions run from 8.30 until12 noon. Afternoon
sessions begin at 12.30 and end at 3.30. During each session our little
learners also enjoy a fruit snack and drink.
However, once she/he has settled into Nursery, you may like your child to stay for lunch occasionally and a delicious, freshly cooked
hot lunch is served every day in our dining room and mealtimes are
carefully supervised by Nursery staff.
Our staff are also happy to deal with changing nappies too so please don’t worry if your little one is not potty – trained!
The accommodation and state of the art facilities in our new Early
Years building, together with the new outdoor play area greatly enhance
the beginnings of learning at St Teresa’s. Emphasis is on learning
through fun and a carefully balanced daily curriculum ensures the right
mix of dynamic academic work, indoor and outdoor play and creative
activities in a safe, secure and happy environment.

Lower Prep (4- 7 years): the world expands.
This is where we broaden the horizons from those in the Nursery and,
in a wonderfully child –friendly environment, help the little ones
entering full time education for the first time to look upon school as
a wholly encouraging and secure environment where work, play and fun
are inextricably linked.

The curriculum is dynamic and creative and
aimed at producing happy, self-confident girls with excellent academic
foundations upon which to build in the future.
Every child has
something positive to offer and our staff give the support and
encouragement which nurture self awareness and confidence and help each
girl to shine.
Upper Prep (7-11 years): the sky is the limit
Great emphasis is laid here on providing a wide ranging curriculum
to challenge our youngsters and to help them to think for themselves,
wherever their talents lie. With the right tuition and support girls
develop the confidence and strength to take on all manner of
challenges- and to succeed. They learn that work cannot always be fun
and that sometimes you need to push yourself to bring out your best and
that is why achievement at all levels is rewarded here. We encourage
our girls to set high standards for themselves, work hard at seeing a
job through and to enjoy the rewards of their success.
It is at this stage too that girls may begin to board. Learning to
live and work with friends adds another important dimension to becoming
independent- but is also a lot of fun with a wide programme of
activities and outings!
By the time they leave us, St Teresa’s girls have often achieved far
more than they- or their parents - would ever have thought possible. In
addition, they have become responsible, reliable, caring
individuals…………………..what more could you ask for?
